FSOT Update
A modernized path into the Foreign Service.
The Department of State has modernized the Foreign Service Officer Test (FSOT) to strengthen the merit-based selection process for America's diplomats. The revamped exam includes a new logic and reasoning section, retires the situational judgment section, and removes the requirement for personal narrative essays, better aligning the test with the skills needed to represent the interests of the American people.
The FSOT is now administered quarterly. Registration opens roughly one month before each exam window.
